Types of Massage
• Swedish Massage
This lighter style massage is meant for relaxation. Swedish massages increase circulation and soothe muscles while reducing overall stress.
• Deep Tissue
This deeper style massage is used to release chronic muscle tension through slower strokes and more direct deep pressure or friction applied across the grain of the muscles. Deep tissue massages help break up and eliminate scar tissue. This style usually focuses on more specific areas and may cause some soreness during or right after the massage. However, if the massage is done correctly you should feel better than ever within a day or two.
• Sports Massage
Sports massages help prepare athletes for peak performance by draining away fatigue, relieving swelling, reducing muscle tension, promoting flexibility and preventing injuries.
• Neuromuscular Massage
Neuromuscular massage is also referred to as trigger point therapy. This massage style consists of alternating levels of concentrated pressure to the specific areas of muscle spasm. Specific pressure is usually applied with the fingers, knuckles, or elbow, and increases blood flow due to reduced muscle tension.
• Chair Massage
This massage style utilizes a special chair that allows the therapist to work on the client’s head, neck and shoulders while the client is clothed and seated. Appointments are for 15 or 30 minutes only. Please specify this style when making the appointment so that the therapist will have the chair set up. Chair massage can also be brought on site to a company or function by special arrangement. There is a 2-hour minimum for this service. For more information email Russ Robar.
